PORTFOLIOS :
New York : Georgia O'Keeffe and the American West
At the height of his career in 1948, Todd Webb traveled to Paris to create
vivid records of everyday life and architecture. Upon falling
in love with the country, Webb decided to extend his visit in Paris and
correspondingly met his future wife, Lucille, modern dancer from New
York. The Webbs spent several non-consecutive years living in
France, beginning in 1949. Webb is best known for his photographs of
Paris in the late 1940's and early 1950's, yet he made several fabulous
lesser-known photographs while living with Lucille in Provence in the
1970's. Webb's work of Paris is published in Todd Webb: Paris, New
York (Hallmark Cards, Inc., 1986), and Todd Webb: New York, Paris,
O'Keeffe, Friends (MegaPress Japan, 1998)
